BRIC – Art Installation
This installation is sourced entirely from the Thames – Wood, Brick, Nail.
I stumbled across the pebble shaped bricks during a bumble along the Thames whilst poring over the flotsam and jetsam. These naturally denatured bricks are the remnants after many years of attrition. They can be found littered across the river banks. The square, rusty nails also caught my attention. Their antiquated mold-based production is now replaced by modern wire-drawn methods. The Thames slowly restores these manufactured materials, having served their purpose, to their natural states. Bricks are now in the hands of the BRIC economies, Brazil, Russia, India and China.
